Here we go again!! "Tea for Three" Monday! I am sorry I was off last week but you know that life happens. But, I am back and with a super special guest.
Amy took the time to share a little of her creative and artistic insights. Don't you just love when you learn new things from other artists? I do! Amy makes the most beautiful sculptures and her illustrations are so beautiful. You will be able to tell they are inspired in the daily life with that childish sweet touch :)
Well, remember that this Saturday the Post Office Fairy stopped by my house? Well, she brought to me my new 'gift', a wonderful creation from Amy! It was love at first sight, you will see why in a minute...
Isn't she just simply gorgeous??! The name of my sculpture? "DAHHHLING!" Could not be more perfect!
So, let me share our interview with Amy!

INTERVIEW
Please give a little background of you, any general information you would like to share.
-I'm a sculptor/artist disguised as a mother.
What inspires your artistic crafts?
-People in general. I think that the human figure is just amazing since it is always changing from every angle. I can find beauty in anyone...whether a twinkle in their eye or a dimple on their cheek. My kids are the most inspirational at the moment and I don't really see that changing any time soon.
How long have you been crafting and how did you start?
-I've been an artist most all of my life. I was influenced by my mother and brothers at a very young age. My father, sadly, has no artistic skills. (Sorry Dad...it's true) I so have a degree in Fine Art too.
What would you call your style?
-Hmmmm....my style used to be very traditional but has changed completely in recent years. I would call it whimsical, fun, colorful, quirky? I think I will choose not to pigeon hole.
What is the favorite part in all of your art work you create?
-I love the tactile nature of sculpture. I love seeing the faces form and their characters come through. I also love the moment when I can call it done. That seems to be the toughest part for me.
What is the best and worst of being an Artist?
-Pricing, selling and promoting my work is very tough for me. I am learning each day and still have a lot to learn.
Which piece of your current artwork is your favorite?
-I have a few favorites. I like my
Spiritual Guy...mostly because he looks SO different from different angles but then still comes together as a whole. But I also dislike him because he caused a lot of trouble during creation. I will always love my Earl Grey guy. He has such attitude and is so light weight.
What made you open an Etsy Store? -I needed an easy venue where people could pay via credit card and paypal and I didn't have to think of those things. The ease of use in
Etsy is fantastic!
Besides Etsy, where else can we find you?
-Right now, only on Etsy. This year I hope to get some of my new work into some galleries and shops around Pittsburgh. Again, promoting myself is tough but I will prevail! ;o)
What advice do you have for aspiring art/craft sellers?
-The biggest thing is to stop talking about it and just do it. So many times I was my own worst enemy because nothing comes out as I picture in my head. I've learned to embrace that and just get it done. How is anyone going to see any of your stuff if it is all half made on your work bench at home?
