What makes you dream?

I wish I could say I was artistic since little. That I had artistic parents and we all live in a beautiful cottage house surrounded with enchanted forests with fairies and magical creatures... but I would be totally lying. Instead, I spend my childhood being a good student, reading most of the time, drawing in my countless coloring books and playing dolls... you know, the usual. Oh! and have to say I always said I was going to buy Disneyland when I grew older. I loved The Little Mermaid (I still do!) Of course, I have not had the 'chance' to buy Disneyland yet haha I got busy with other things...

There was a time when I thought I had no imagination, that I lacked of the ability to dream... things were changing slowly after a few art classes.. and as I became more independent is when I started collecting fantastic notebooks, journals and buying cute stuff that most people would say is useless. To me, the 'useless' stuff I have is part of what I have dreamed. So, now I dream as child, I dream of things I cannot physically have. Parting from that idea, I decided to recreate them in the best way of my artistical ability. That is what my Etsy Store will be about. To do the dreamed and whatever I can imagine because from now on, I will not stop dreaming.

So keep an eye wide open because my store will be opening soon with a lot of color, whimsy, clay and yarn!

Now, look at the sky either by day or by night and tell me what makes you dream? You can share your dream since I shared mine :)

Pounce , pounce, pounce on Etsy!

While it is true there are sooo many treasures in Etsy, we can always come up with a few that take our breath away. Pouncing is always fun because you can find wonderful items from undiscovered sellers. I had to choose (hard task) among many talented sellers.

Today I feel like dreaming in basic colors so here they are!

Paper Quilled Necklace from Etsy seller mlmxoxo2. Mary Louise from Boston is the creator of these super cool necklaces. To start I love the color combo and I am a big fan of swirly things, so defnitely this is an item to keep. I have to say I really appreciate when sellers take their time to provide a great and clever packaging, that is the case of mlmxoxo2. Also, do you have a different color choice than what is available? Just convo mlmxoxo2 and she will costumize it for you. Two tumbs up for Mary Louise! Let's go to her store and take a closer look. But beware you will fall in love of her necklaces!

I love the rainbow colors on this last necklace!!

My bad ' habit of giving away my knitting projects

I have been working on this scarf for months... probably since a year back. I hadn't finish it because was at the bottom of my stash and I did not realized about it until a week ago. Unfortunately I only had one skein left and could not remember where I got it, so... I decided to make a small scarf for my other niece (Erika). So here are the results. I have to say I am pretty satisfied. By the way, the edges where crocheted :)

Knitting the scarf was a very pleasant roller coaster... I LOVE knitting in pink and when I got to the greens and browns I wasn't trilled about it, but when the pink part started for some reason It turned very joyous. I know it is silly but I just enjoy so much pink projects :)

Happy Sunday and don't stop dreaming!

Feliz Navidad!

Santa Claus's Visit

With a click and a clack
And a great big pack,
Down through the chimney,
Pretty nimbly
Somebody comes on Christmas eve!

If we are real nice
And as still as mice,
If we never peep,
And are sound asleep,
He'll fill our stockings, I do believe!

And when we arise
Next day our eyes
Will grow big to see
How perfectly
He knew what we all wished to receive!

How to Crochet a Button-Bedecked Headband

As you may have noticed I love all about crochet and knitting. While surfing the web (like usual) I found this tutorial from talented Linda Permann at Craftstylish.com on how to make a Crochet Headband. Looks so easy and incredibly beautiful! The best part is that you only need very few supplies to make it. This would be a perfect gift for any friend or child. I can't wait to make mine! I will post pics later :)

Here is the one finished by Linda

Very few supplies! Make sure you get happy colors for this upcoming Spring!

Colorful crochet beret for my niece Sofia

I got a few skeins of yarn in Michael's and could not figure out what to do with such yummy colors, so I decided for a beret for my niece Sofia. Don't be to hard on me since is my very first crochet hat project I do ever but It was so addicting!

I was supposed to follow a pattern but when I figured out how to increase and decrease I just left my hands play with the colors and yarn. I started with the 'Magic circle in 6 stitches then 2 single crochets in the same stitch then a single crochet in the other stitch and repeated. For the second row was 2 sc in one st then 1 sc in the following 2 st and 3rd row, 2 sc in one st then 1 sc in the following 3 and 2 sc in the 5th stitch and so on so forth. Then decrease a few stitches in the final lines. Then work same stitches in sc and finally the edging with chains. I know it sounds weird but was super easy! I finished it in an evening :)

If you happen to want to make a similar one and don't get my instructions (most likely no one will haha), feel free to comment/message me :)

This is how it looked when I started!

Sofia is such a cutie that It will suit her perfectly with her whimsy and uber girly style!!

btw, I looooooooove crocheting in colors!!

Happy Wednesday :)

Done with Christmas Decorations

Visiting my mom's house, I went through my old closet and I found this Nativity set I bought when I was single! I remember buying it for 'when I have my own family'. It is amazing how time passes, now I am married and celebrating in my own house :)

My husband is a non-believer so he put Santa in there too haha... well at least he 'believes' in Santa!

And our little tree decorated with christmas lights, pastel spheres, jolly rancher candy canes and only pastel bows made it perfect.

I wish you a very blessed Christmas and remember 'Jesus is the reason for the season!'

Happy Holidays!

Last Thursday Deals!

I have been wanting a set of edge scissors and searching through craigslist found this one for only $15.00 the set!

And of course my long wanted spinning wheel made its way home to me from beautiful Alpine California.
This is a very nice Ashford Spinning Wheel with history. A very nice lady sold it to me at a very very low price knowing I would put a good use of it. Her mother passed away a few years ago and left many valuables for the yarn lover. She even had her own angora sheeps! Isn't that amazing? Well, I was the lucky one to get it. Having it at home now, knowing that many beautiful yarns and fibers got spun on it makes me feel lucky but at the same time I feel a lot of responsibility. I will to my best to do good yarn in memory of this Lady.

The yarn you see is a spun yarn already, I was just trying it to get used to the feet.. It is hard but so much fun!!!

DIY Whimsy Chandelier

Getting my daily dose of inspiration online I came across this super cool chandelier at "The Flirty Guide" where 'the flirty girl, Stacie Tamaki guides you step by step on creating this colorful chandelier. I have always debated between a white ethereal chandelier or a colorful whimsical one. But with the happy orange that is painted with, the beads and the wild touch of the leopard shades it is too hard to resist!
So I got my answer now ;)

For detail instructions on how to make this wonderful chandelier go here.

Happy crafting!

Hand dyed Yarns! 100% Wool for my Etsy Store this 2011!

I have to say, I have the wool and all but I am not ready. I just don't feel like listing anything yet. I am the kind of person that likes everything in the right place at the right moment. It isn't the right moment for me yet. But I still want to share this picture. I love the red and how vivid the color came out. I am perfecting the dying process, I am still learning with bold colors. I haven't dared to go pastels yet. Between the yarns, drawing, knitting, learning crochet and reading about ceramics and watercolors I still have time to blog! I have to enjoy it while I can, because when I start work the picture is going to change.

So what would you knit if you had any of the super chunky bulky yarns above??

Blue Christmas Tree!

I love classic green Christmas trees, but there is always something magical about colored (and of course artificial) trees that catches my attention. I saved this picture loooong ago and unfortunately I can't tell you the source :( but isn't this wonderful? Small trees like this one are recession proof! Plus, it has this Dr Seuss-esque form that makes it so cool. The only thing needed is a little Grinch figurine to match ;)

By the way, I have not put up a Christmas tree at home. Unfortunately recession as been a guest at home but I already figured out a way on how to create my unique Christmas tree this year. I will add picture of it later since is in the little workshop cookin'"! Happy Monday!

Pets are family

It is amazing how much one can love their pets.. I am talking me loving my dog. Even if sometimes I play to rough with Coco, I adore her. Just seeing her happy and waggling her tail in happiness every morning when seeing I wake up is so refreshing. Or when I am sick and stay in bed, she is there next to me. Needless to say, she is an indoors dog. I cannot imagine her being outside in the cold. Even though she is a 50 lbs chocolate lab and her breed is a working dog, my doggie is not for rough work! Do not get me wrong, I did train her (myself) very well. She is absolutely not allowed in the kitchen unless called, she does not eat unless I say 'Ok' even if the food is served. It took a lot of time for her to understand I was the one in charge. I adopted her from a shelter where she was returned 3 times because she was hyperactive! Yes, she has LOADS of energy and yes she is a clock every morning at 6:30 to have breakfast and potty; but she is gorgeous beyond canine reason!

This pic was taken 2 days ago, while playing fetch outside. Isn't she the most gorgeous hairy brunette?? lol
